Obligatory Liberty Bell Photo
I was in Philadelphia today, with camera this time. Did a little wandering and made a few snaps of the liberty bell. Last time I saw this bell it was the early seventies. Same bell but it’s got a nice house now! Few more from the day.
Learned a bit as the crack that finally did in the bell is the thin crack that starts above the large gap between the letters P and H. The larger gap was a repair which kept the bell ringing up until 1846. The thin crack changed the tone of the bell and destabilized the form. Check out the bell timeline.
Lots to see in the city. Hard for me to focus but not as bad as woods. If I’d known about the 10 million pixel display at the Comcast building, you’d be seeing that instead of the bell. Blinking lights win everytime.
